China is the birthplace of tea. According to legend, tea was first discovered accidentally by the Chinese Emperor Shen Nong in 2737 BC, when a dried leaf of the camellia sinensis tree fell into his cup of boiled water. Interested by the colour and aroma, he tried the infused drink and found that it was most refreshing.
Today there are numerous tea-growing regions in China, such as Hunan, Fujian, and Anhui. Chinese teas are produced in White, Green and Black leaf varieties.
Ahmad Tea uses Chinese teas for its Green Tea, English Afternoon, Gunpowder, and Jasmine Green Teas.
