We’re happy to assure you that almost all of the teabags we sell are completely plastic-free, and all of them are compostable. All of our teabags with a string and tag are made from 100% natural fibres sourced from Manila Hemp (a variety of banana plant), are fully home compostable and biodegradable. In fact, almost all of our teabags feature a string and tag.
We do sell a small number tagless teabags that use a bioplastic called PLA to seal them. While these teabags contain PLA, they are still industrially compostable. We are actively searching for a material that can seal the teabags without the use of any bioplastic, but we have yet to find a solution that will maintain the necessary integrity.
Additionally, all of Ahmad Tea’s cartons and teabag envelopes are fully recyclable. We are working hard on our sustainable journey, ensuring our impact on the environment is minimal.
