We’re delighted that for the third year running, we have been awarded a gold rating from the world’s most trusted business sustainability ratings: EcoVadis. This award places Ahmad Tea in the top 3% of food manufacturing companies in the world. The award recognises our ongoing investment in making our Emirates production facility as sustainable as possible. This year we have also been awarded the RAK Environmental Sustainability Award.
EcoVadis rates 75,000 companies globally enabling them to reduce risk, drive performance, and improve environmental and social outcomes. EcoVadis also evaluates how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability/CSR into their business and management processes.
Ahmad Tea’s Ecovadis journey started in 2020 and for the last three years we have been awarded a gold rating for our consistent focus on the delivering sustainable operations. In the last year, we have reduced CO2 emissions, improved supplier CSR compliance from 50% to 70% and have started to use international sustainable reporting standards to report on sustainability metrics.
“I’m so proud of our team at Ahmad Tea’s Emirates factory. They have worked tirelessly to roll out new initiatives which are improving our environmental impact. Winning this gold-level rating from EcoVadis is testament to the hard work and commitment which the team has put in, to think imaginatively about how small changes every day can lead to significant improvements.” Zahra Afshar, Legal Counsel and Head of Sustainability, Ahmad Tea
We are continuing to invest in improving our sustainability programme, to make further improvements to our CSR activities to further decrease our impact on the environment. These include: beginning a carbon net zero project to achieve net zero status by 2030, the development of more sustainable packaging initiatives and to better communicate our eco-credentials on our packaging. We are also working with tea plantations to enhance their sustainability initiatives, to improve the livelihood of tea workers, to procure from suppliers who demonstrate better performance on sustainability and to improve how we communicate our sustainability ambitions throughout our business.
