INGREDIENTS
For the rolls
• Filo (phyllo) pastry sheets
•Cream cheese (cut into small cubes)
• Oil, for frying
For the shira (syrup)
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup water
For topping
• Crushed pistachios
Method
1. Cut the filo sheets into long strips.
2. Place one small cube of cream cheese at the end of each strip.
3. Roll tightly into a cigar shape.
4. Heat oil on medium heat.
5. Fry the rolls until golden and crispy on all sides.
6. While they are frying, prepare the shira:
a. Put the 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a pot.
b. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thick.
7. Remove the fried znoud from the oil and place them directly into the shira.
8. Take them out and arrange on a plate.
9. Top with crushed pistachios.
